I had the pleasure to stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston while I was visiting Massachusetts. When I heard the rave reviews about their restaurant Avenue One, I had to try it for myself! The hotel is in the heart of Boston, so if you are not staying there, you can still pop in for a delicious New England meal. My friend Juliet and I are big seafood lovers, so we had to get it for dinner. After all, we were in Boston! The menu was hard to choose from, ranging in all different categories so if you do not like seafood, there is still plenty to choose from.
The staff was extremely friendly, chatting with us and helping us to decide what to order. The chef James, even came out to give us his recommendations. In the end, Juliet got the honey glazed salmon but wanted to swap the fettuccine that it usually comes with for the risotto. Our waitress was very accommodating, switching it for her without any hesitation. There is also an option to have your meal simply seasoned or grilled, in case you don’t like the way it is on the menu (although I don’t know how that’s possible!).
I decided to try the New England baked haddock, crusted with potato chip flakes. I never had haddock before so I was excited to try something new. Both meals were delicious and perfectly prepared. I wish I had room to order another round!
Even though we were completely stuffed, I was dying to try the desert. If the food was this good, then the desert must be as well. I was right! We shared the Boston cream pie but don’t let the “pie” in the name fool you. It was creamy and scrumptious, unlike any other I have had before. There was nothing left after we wiped the plate clean. In the end, we both left completely full and satisfied. The only thing I was unhappy about, was that I didn’t get to try the whole menu!
**Thank you Avenue One for providing us with our meals. As always, my opinions are my own.
