Scuba diving has always been at the top of my bucket list. The thought of swimming at deep depths with sea life you would never normally be able to witness has always appealed to me. Thanks to Tinggly experience gifts, I was able to finally check scuba diving off of my bucket list!!
What is Tinggly? It is a website specifically designed to enable you to purchase out of the box gifts for someone (or even yourself!)… such as river rafting, night diving with manta rays, a two day jungle safari in Nepal, zip lining in Mexico, island hopping for two in the Philippines, you know just the usual! The gift is a voucher that costs $119, which then gets sent to the person, so that they can select an activity of their choice. The lists of activities to choose from are endless with over 350 countries around the world to browse through.
Imagine booking a trip and later finding out that someone bought you a gift that adds to your upcoming vacation? You would instantly get that excited, happy, tingly feeling. Hence the name of the website.. Tinggly! I think the name is pretty fitting. After having attended a bunch of weddings this summer, I wish I had known about them before as it would have been the perfect honeymoon gift for some of my friends.
The gift voucher doesn’t expire until after 2 years, so you have plenty of time to use it. Perhaps it can even be used to push someone to stop procrastinating and finally purchase that dream trip they have always wanted to go on!
Anyway, back to my scuba diving experience in Santorini. It really was something I will never forget. I was nervous at first, because I have never done it before and it looks a bit complicated. My instructor Gareth, explained everything I needed to know for my dive, such as how to use the regulator, what buttons to press to use on the suit, where the back up gadgets are and hands signals. In the end, we only needed to know how to use the regulator and hand signals, since my instructor stayed near me and pressed the necessary buttons when they were needed. All I had to worry about was having a good time!
After the quick lesson, it was time to get in the water. I did some practice going under the water and breathing. We did it a few times until I felt able to start the dive. Before I knew it, I was diving!
He helped me get used to swimming underwater by swimming in front of me, holding my hand and pulling me along until I got comfortable enough to do it on my own. Then, we slowly descended deeper into the water. After I got comfortable, it was so easy. I can’t believe I was nervous at the beginning!
We then went to an area loaded with fish. I was actually swimming in the middle of schools of them. It was pretty surreal! Now I am hooked and want to do it again and again! Perhaps I will use Tinggly again to go scuba diving in the next country I am visiting. I can even switch it up and try a night dive (maybe with those manta rays)!
