Circa 39 is the prefect place to stay if you are looking to stray away from the chaos of the South Beach strip yet still be close enough to join in, if you are in the mood. The hotel itself is incredibly charming with its homey feel and bright colors. Everything you need is at the hotel.. pool, bar, restaurant, beach access and even a courtyard garden!
Situated on 39th and Collins, it is right off of the beach and near many delicious restaurants and things to do. Running parallel along the beach is a boardwalk that you can stroll along for a leisurely walk or as many people do, go for a leisurely jog. If you follow the boardwalk it also takes you directly to the main South Beach strip. Since the hotel is a little further up along South Beach, you have quick access to an extremely peaceful beach, where you are guaranteed a nice spot to relax. During peak season on the main South Beach strip, it is hard to find a nice spot, but here it is far less stressful an exercise, so sit back, relax and soak up the sun or if you are in the mood, partake in one of the fun local activities such as jet skiing or paddle boarding.
The rooms are just a cheerful as the rest of the hotel, with pops of orange and green along with stylish wallpaper giving it a real Miami Beach look. Every night I knocked out as soon as my head hit the pillow as my body just melted into the soft, comfortable bed. You are provided with all of the necessities that you’ll need for you stay such a a hair dryer, iron, safe, bathrobes (who doesn’t love a good bathrobe?), flat screen tv, etc. There are two places where your room could be, in the main building or the second connecting building which is surrounded by a beautiful garden with swinging chairs that hang from trees and sitting areas. Not a bad way to get to your room!
The pool area is spectacular. It has cabanas that don’t require any extra fee, unlike most hotels and chairs that you can use . I spent my whole first day at the pool tanning, eating, drinking, swimming and playing card games. You can’t beat that! There is a waiter that comes around in case you want to order food and drinks which I highly recommend, as the food was absolutely delicious. For lunch, my friend and I shared a quinoa chicken salad and a pitcher of white sangria (which had tons of fruit). Good thing we shared, as the salad was huge!
With over 80 different rums and an extensive collection of craft beer, it was hard for us to stay away from the hotels Wunderbar. Since they are known for their rum, I had to try it! I got the “Lime in the Coconut” which is served in a fresh coconut with Bacardi. The mojitos are also yummy and there was a ton of different flavors to choose from. There were a couple nights that we came back to the hotel tired and hungry, but thankfully the bar still serves food until 11pm! One night we ordered chicken wings and mini burgers and took them out to the pool. Even though the pool itself was closed, it was nice to sit outside and snack while staring up at the stars. Another night we got a giant dish of nachos. When it first came out we thought we would never finish it, but then once we started eating them, we couldn’t stop, and kindly wiped the plate clean for them. 🙂
All of the food that we ate was from Jules Kitchen. We had breakfast in their dining area and as soon as I walked in, I was immediately drawn to the the inspirational travel quotes and pictures all over the walls. The breakfast is buffet style and has the typical options you would normally choose from such as eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, etc, you can even make your own waffle. Again, the food was delicious and the selection was also excellent. Since it was buffet style, I was sure to pack in sustenance for the day and go up to refill my plate a few times. There is something about traveling that turns me into a real piglet!
**Thank you Circa 39 for providing our stay. As always, my opinions are my own.
