Lembongan Island is a small island that is only 40 minutes away from Bali, which makes it an ideal day trip destination. I took a speed boat there with Oji Tours. The boat ride there and back was so much fun as we sped over the waves, it felt like I was on a ride at the amusement park. Once we arrived, we drove around the island, which is only about 5 miles long, so it doesn’t take too long to see the whole island! Coming from a big city like New York, it is hard to believe that they only have about 5,000 residents on the whole island, talk about two completely different worlds!
We first drove to the mangrove forest, where we walked around and learned different facts such as mangroves originated in Indonesia. After our walk we went into a traditional wooden boat and made our way through the forest, which I have to say was incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
Then, it was time to hop on another boat and head out to sea for some snorkeling. I saw so many stunning, colorful fish around the beautiful coral. One thing I really liked was that the boat did not stop, they simply had you jump off to swim and then swam to where to boat drove to further down and hopped back on board. I feel like I saw a lot more than I usually do on snorkeling trips, because I swam through different areas of the water to return to the boat, instead of around the same spots. When I have been on similar trips, I have found that I always end up repeating the same things and it can get a bit boring after a while.
After swimming all over, I was absolutely famished, so thankfully it was time for lunch. Our guide brought us to hangout at an infinity pool while we waited for our lunch to be ready. Not a bad way to wait around! When the food was served, I got to sit outside with a great view of the island. There were a lot of lunch choices such as Indonesian food, pasta, western food and more. I went with a chicken dish that was smothered in a delicious carbonara like sauce. They gave us some time after lunch to either shower or hangout by the pool some more, so of course I went back to the pool until it was time to go back! It was the perfect way to end the day.
**Thank you Oji Tours for hosting me. As always, my opinions are my own.
